Beyond ensuring that every project we invest in meets the standard industry requirements outlined below, we look for the following characteristics when sourcing and investing in project partners:

  • Quantifiable — We must be able to precisely account for the tonnes of CO2 equivalent reduced or removed by the project.
  • Verifiable — We must be able to prove the reduction has occurred, and that it was the result of the project activity.
  • Auditable — Verification/Validation reports delivered by accredited 3rd party verifiers.
  • Registered — When possible, all projects are registered, serialized and retired publicly.
  • Permanent — The beneficial action of an offset to the atmosphere should be durable and lasting.
  • Additional — The reduction or removal of greenhouse gasses by a project must be shown to be dependent on the fact that the project is being undertaken for, and funded by, offsets.

All GreenPrint’s Co2 Offset projects adhere to the following established industry standards for projects to be certified as legitimate carbon offset projects:

  • Geographic Relevance – Where possible we invest in carbon sequestration and offset projects in the same locale where the carbon is emitted.
  • Project Type – We focus on reforestation, alternative renewable power generation, and carbon sequestration projects because of their long term social benefits.
  • Efficacy &Value – We choose projects based on the additionality of the offsets, the efficiency of the investment, and the overall value equation presented.
  • Legitimacy – In addition to local greenscape and tree planting projects, all of our carbon offset projects are certified by groups such as the GoldStandard, Climate Action Reserve, Verified Carbon Standard, APX, and/or CCX. Further, our investment team employs a proprietary 4-step certification and audit process to ensure they meet our standards on an ongoing basis.
